The Complete Gyaru Prompt Guide: Makeup, Shiro/Kuro Gyaru, Fashion, and Poses

You type gyaru into your prompt and get an ordinary woman — a result our experiments have reproduced again and again. This article is a consolidated guide to the keyword recipes whose effects were confirmed in seed-fixed experiments, covering four areas: makeup, style, fashion, and poses.

Detailed comparison images are available in each linked experiment article. All tests were run on z-image-turbo (8 steps, CFG 1.0, 1024x1024).

The Golden Rule: Bare “gyaru” Doesn’t Work

The most important finding, confirmed consistently across three experiments:

  • Gyaru makeup test: in face close-ups, bare gyaru differs little from control
  • Gyaru style test: in upper-body shots, hair/skin/makeup changed in 0/3 images
  • Gyaru peace test: even with gyaru fixed in the prompt, outputs stay close to ordinary portraits

What works instead is the recipe approach: stacking concrete keywords for hair color, skin, makeup, and clothing. Every recipe below follows it.

Makeup

Highlights from the gyaru makeup test (8 conditions × 24 images):

  • ganguro: the most comprehensive change — dark eye makeup plus a hair-color shift. Note it renders as modern-gyaru style, not the original ganguro (deep tan, white lips)
  • false lashes: very clear false-eyelash rendering, with an ash-blonde hair side effect
  • heavy liner: thick black eyeliner and smoky eyes; leans toward a mode/punk look
  • hime gyaru morphs into decorative costumes rather than makeup — beware

Gyaru makeup produced by the ganguro keyword

For eye-area details see the eyelash & eyeliner test, and for under-eye bags the aegyo sal test (aegyo sal, gentle smile worked in 3/3 images).

Style: Shiro Gyaru, Kuro Gyaru, and Heisei Gyaru

Highlights from the gyaru style test (5 conditions × 15 images):

  • Shiro gyaru: gyaru, platinum blonde hair, fair skin, glossy pink lips, false lashes reproduced in 3/3 — platinum blonde, fair skin, and glossy lips render consistently
  • Kuro gyaru: gyaru, deep tanned skin, bleached blonde hair, white eyeshadow reproduced in 3/3. The tanned skin that bare ganguro failed to produce appears when deep tanned skin is written explicitly
  • The Y2K route to Heisei gyaru failed (0/3): clothes turn Y2K, but hair, skin, and makeup stay unchanged. A more promising route is the kuro gyaru recipe plus Y2K clothing keywords

Caveat: applying the shiro/kuro recipes also changes the face to a different-person level (which element within the recipe causes this was not isolated) — unsuitable when you need to keep the same character.

Fashion

Highlights from the gyaru fashion test (5 conditions × 15 images):

  • Bare gyaru fashion unexpectedly renders uniform-like outfits (necktie + pleated mini skirt) — not the leopard-print, platform-shoe gyaru you might expect
  • All three recipes with explicit clothing parts were stable at 3/3:
    • Leopard: gyaru fashion, leopard print top, denim mini skirt
    • Y2K: y2k fashion, platform boots, mini skirt
    • Hime gyaru: hime gyaru fashion, frilly pink dress
  • Clothing keywords alone never changed hair color (0/15) — combine them with the style recipes above

Poses: The Gyaru Peace Sign

Highlights from the gyaru peace test (5 conditions × 15 images):

  • peace sign (palm forward) is stable at 3/3, with no finger artifacts
  • double peace sign also 3/3
  • The classic gyaru peace — inverted peace sign (back of hand forward) — appeared in only 1/3; it tends to flip back to a palm-forward peace
  • peace sign next to eye placed one hand at the eye in 2/3

Adjacent Styles

Neighboring styles have their own experiment articles:

Note: Every gyaru recipe converged on the same conclusion: concrete part-by-part keywords beat abstract style names. When targeting a new style, decomposing it into hair color, skin, makeup, and clothing keywords first is the shortest path.
