Experiment 1: Core Pose Expression Comparison
Compared four direct English translations of “crouching while holding crotch” to see which produces the most stable pose.
Condition A: crouching, holding crotch, in pain

Condition B: squatting, hands between legs, pained expression

Condition C: kneeling on floor, bent over, clutching groin

Condition D: curled up on floor, hands covering crotch, grimacing

Cross-Comparison
| Condition | Crouching Pose | Hands Near Crotch | Pain Expression | Underwear Maintained |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A: crouching, holding crotch | 1/3 | 0/3 | 3/3 | 3/3 |
| B: squatting, hands between legs | 3/3 | 0/3 | 3/3 | 3/3 |
| C: kneeling, bent over, clutching groin | 3/3 | 0/3 | 1/3 | 3/3 |
| D: curled up, hands covering crotch | 0/3 | 0/3 | 2/3 | 3/3 |
Observations
Across all four conditions, hands were consistently placed on the lower abdomen (navel to panty waistband area), never reaching the actual crotch. Expressions like holding crotch, clutching groin, and hands covering crotch were all interpreted as “holding the stomach.”
For pose stability, squatting (Condition B) reproduced the crouching pose in all 3 images, making it the most reliable. crouching (Condition A) drifted to standing or kneeling poses. curled up (Condition D) produced sitting or lying positions rather than crouching. kneeling (Condition C) produced stable kneeling but tended toward glamour-style poses rather than pain poses.
Experiment 2: Getting Hands Down to the Crotch
Since all conditions in Experiment 1 placed hands on the abdomen, this experiment tested different expressions to move hands to the actual crotch area. The pose was fixed to squatting based on Experiment 1 results.
Condition A: holding crotch (Control)
Images from Experiment 1 Condition A for reference. holding crotch places hands on the lower abdomen.
Condition B: cupping crotch with both hands
| seed=42 | seed=123 | seed=789 |
|---|---|---|

Condition C: hands pressed against panty crotch between thighs
| seed=42 | seed=123 | seed=789 |
|---|---|---|

Cross-Comparison
| Condition | Squatting Pose | Hands at Crotch | Hands on Abdomen | Pain Expression |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A: holding crotch | 1/3 | 0/3 | 3/3 | 3/3 |
| B: cupping crotch | 3/3 | 0/3 | 3/3 | 3/3 |
| C: panty crotch between thighs | 3/3 | 2/3 | 1/3 | 3/3 |
Observations
cupping crotch (Condition B) produced nearly identical results to holding crotch (Condition A) — hands remained on the lower abdomen. Simply rephrasing the expression didn’t change the interpretation.
However, hands pressed against panty crotch between thighs (Condition C) moved hands to the crotch area in 2 out of 3 images. Specifying the garment part (panty crotch) and the position (between thighs) made a significant difference in hand placement.
Note: Specifying “crotch” alone tends to be interpreted as the lower abdomen. Naming the actual garment part and position specifically, as in “panty crotch between thighs,” produces the intended hand placement more reliably.
Experiment 3: Adding Pain Descriptors
Tested whether adding tears in eyes, sweating enhances the pain expression when combined with the best expression from Experiment 2.
Condition A: Best Expression Only (Control)
Reusing Experiment 2 Condition C images for reference.
Condition B: + tears in eyes, sweating
| seed=42 | seed=123 | seed=789 |
|---|---|---|
![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
Observations
Adding tears in eyes, sweating produced the following changes across all 3 images:
- Sweat depiction: Visible water droplets and sheen on skin surface, clearly representing perspiration
- Tears: Added moisture and tears around the eyes
- Hair texture: Hair became wet-looking (wet hair effect from sweating)
- Enhanced pain expression: Stronger grimacing and distress compared to the control
Hand placement remained near the crotch area, consistent with the control — the pain descriptors did not negatively affect the pose.
Key Findings
Hand Placement Expressions
| Goal | Ineffective Expressions | Effective Expression |
|---|---|---|
| Place hands on crotch | holding crotch, cupping crotch, hands covering crotch, clutching groin | hands pressed against panty crotch between thighs |
crotch alone is interpreted as “lower abdomen.” Combining a garment part name (panty crotch) with position (between thighs) is needed.
Pose Expressions
| Expression | Stability | Tendency |
|---|---|---|
squatting | High (3/3) | Stable crouching pose |
kneeling | High (3/3) | Kneeling but tends toward glamour poses |
crouching | Low (1/3) | Drifts to standing, kneeling, etc. |
curled up on floor | Low (0/3) | Produces sitting/lying instead of crouching |
Pain Expression Enhancement
tears in eyes, sweating reliably enhances pain expression and adds sweat, tears, and wet hair. No negative impact on pose.
